Education
Docent tours and student-driven initiatives guided by an Education Committee.
Curiosity Across Generations
Education is how the museum sparks cultural empathy and empowers voices of all ages. Guided by an Education Committee of teachers, scholars, and community leaders, programs meet students and families where they are — in classrooms, galleries, and neighborhoods across Orange County.

Why This Pillar Exists
Build cultural empathy across generations through school-based programs, youth leadership, and intergenerational dialogue that welcome learners of every background.
With teachers, deans, archivists, and community organizers already guiding the work, education at AAMGP is happening now — not waiting for opening day.
What We Set Out to Do
- 01
Deliver curriculum-aligned gallery experiences and classroom partnerships for K–12 students across Orange County.
- 02
Create youth fellowships, mentorship, and leadership pathways so emerging voices shape how stories are told.
- 03
Connect elders and young people through senior dialogues, family programs, and community workshops.
- 04
Grow an Education Committee that keeps programming grounded in classrooms, campuses, and community need.
Work Already Underway
School-Based Programs & K–12 Tours
Curriculum-aligned gallery experiences and classroom partnerships introduce students to Asian American histories and cultures — reflecting communities where 33% of Orange County and 44% of Irvine residents are Asian American.
Youth & Student-Driven Initiatives
Fellowships, mentorship, and youth leadership pathways — building on programs like the Asian American Youth Leaders initiative — invite emerging voices to shape who gets to tell the story.
Intergenerational Dialogue
Senior dialogues, family programs, and community workshops connect elders and young people through storytelling — so learning flows both ways.
Education Committee
Teachers, deans, archivists, and community organizers — from Portola High School classrooms to CSU Fullerton's College of Education — guide programs that welcome visitors of all backgrounds.
