Pillars

Culinary

Celebrating Asian American culinary heritage through the art of storytelling, one dish at a time.

The Connective Pillar

Food as Living Storytelling

Culinary is how AAMGP bridges every program and exhibition — the flavors of Asia as shared experience. Today that work lives as pop-up programming across Southern California; as the landmark opens, it will expand into classes, incubators, and community kitchens. Rooted in Flavor is the first series under this pillar — not the pillar itself.

Mission

Why This Pillar Exists

Honor Asian American culinary heritage as living storytelling — gathering communities around the table to listen, learn, and connect across cultures and generations.

As a museum without walls, culinary programs meet people where they already gather — restaurants, bakeries, and public festivals — until the permanent culinary spaces open at Great Park.

Objective

What We Set Out to Do

  1. 01

Preserve culinary traditions through cultural speakers and immersive tasting experiences.

  2. 02

Grow a family of culinary programs — starting with Rooted in Flavor — that can expand into classes and collaborations as the museum opens.

  3. 03

Bridge Arts & Culture, History, and Education through food as the shared language of heritage.

  4. 04

Partner with chefs, venues, and sponsors who invest in community storytelling at the table.

Programs

Work Already Underway

Rooted in Flavor

Our flagship culinary series — cultural speakers, guest chefs, and intimate gatherings that explore Asian American history and identity through food. Past and upcoming events are archived on the program page.

Festival Culinary Demonstrations

Food as celebration at public festivals — including Mid-Autumn Festival culinary demos that connect seasonal tradition to community gathering.

Future Culinary Spaces

As the landmark takes shape: a restaurant, culinary incubator, and community kitchen where classes and collaborations continue the work begun at the table today.
