Rooted in Flavor
Celebrating Asian American culinary heritage through the art of storytelling, one dish at a time.
Rooted in Flavor
Food transcends borders and generations, carrying within each dish the stories, traditions, and hopes of Asian American communities. Our Rooted in Flavor pillar celebrates this vital connection through immersive experiences that honor culinary heritage while fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Cultural Preservation
Rooted in Flavor culinary series is a cultural learning experience that explores Asian American history, identity, and community through food. Each program centers on a featured cultural speaker who shares the historical, social, and personal stories behind iconic Asian American dishes—examining how migration, resilience, adaptation, and creativity have shaped the flavors we know today.
Community Engagement
From home kitchens to restaurant tables, food becomes a lens to understand the Asian American experience across generations. Following the talk, guests are invited to engage with a rotating guest chef collaborator(s) who brings these stories to life through a curated culinary experience. Each chef highlights dishes inspired by their heritage, family traditions, or contemporary interpretations—bridging past and present through taste.
Innovative Experiences
Designed as an intimate and immersive gathering, Rooted in Flavor invites participants to listen, learn, and connect—celebrating food not just as nourishment, but as storytelling, memory, and cultural preservation. Join us as we gather around the table to honor the roots, journeys, and evolving flavors of Asian America.
